Evonik previously used the standard transaction CJ20N “Project Builder” to manage and extend small investments, known as microprojects. The projects were created in the system once and then manually updated and adjusted each and every year. The process was time-consuming, as each WBS structure for the upcoming year had to be manually created and maintained. Therefore, Evonik’s IT department sought a solution that was not only user-friendly but also cost-efficient to implement. The goal was to minimize the manual effort required to manage microprojects and to increase the speed of project management.
After a preliminary analysis, it was clear that SAP® Screen Personas could meet the requirements. This add-on developed by SAP® could be installed and activated in Evonik’s system without additional license costs. Evonik’s IT department then developed the “Microproject Enhancement App” together with the team of experts from Aksoy.Consulting. This automated the creation of WBS elements and significantly improved the user experience. The low-code approach enables existing project structures to be extended with just a few clicks. Via a dashboard, users select their respective region and the year to be processed and can track the progress of enhancement activities in real time.

Following the success of the “Microproject Enhancement App”, Evonik plans to simplify additional standard transactions in the areas of Sourcing and Supply Chain. The solution demonstrates that small adjustments can lead to measurable process optimizations. It is thus planned to enhance the app even further. The successful implementation and positive feedback have shown that SAP® Screen Personas holds great potential, which Evonik IT’s process experts intend to further leverage.
In October 2022, Evonik, in collaboration with Aksoy.Consulting, unveiled a cutting-edge solution at the SAP® Screen Personas Practitioner Fo-rum, receiving unanimously positive feedback from industry peers.
Since early 2023, the local Shared Service Centers of Evonik Global Financial Services have leveraged the application to enhance their mi-croprojects.
